neck pain natural remedies

In this article we will see what, according to popular tradition, are the most effective natural remedies in reducing neck tension and pain.

There are many people who claim to feel more or less frequent pain in the neck , or a sense of discomfort behind the neck that radiates to the head, shoulders and descends into the arms, preventing even the simplest movements.

It is a disorder that leads to the stiffening of the area of the cervical vertebrae at the base of the skull and its related muscles.

Neck pain results in limitation of movement, discomfort, headache and a real sense of helplessness in performing even the simplest gestures and daily activities, such as showering, sitting, driving and even sleeping.

The possible causes

Neck pain can depend on many factors, the most common of which is certainly an incorrect posture that has lasted for many days, months or years . It is in fact a very common problem in those who do sedentary jobs, such as office jobs and are forced to sit in front of a monitor every day for many hours.

In other cases it could be an occasional trauma , for example due to injuries while playing sports, or the classic whiplash, especially common in road accidents.

Stress , which can create continuous and prolonged muscle tension, should not be underestimated .

Finally, I like to point out the power factor , which unfortunately the Official Medicine never talks about. It may seem absurd to you, but cervical inflammation can also be the result of a wrong diet. In fact, an inflammation in the stomach can radiate up to the cervical, causing tension and pain.

The remedies for the cervical

There are numerous things you can do to relieve tension and therefore neck pain.

Leaving aside those that are the remedies of a pharmacological nature – which obviously we will not deal with – it is possible to use for example:

  • postural gymnastics;
  • Physiotherapy;
  • acupuncture;

And much more.

However, nothing prevents you from trying the remedies I am about to mention to you as well.

These are natural products whose use has been handed down for centuries by our popular tradition, or by that of other areas of the world, such as the East, or South America.

The advent of synthetic drugs has partly thrown into oblivion the knowledge we had accumulated on the use of herbs and other natural remedies.

However, the drug may not always be the answer and especially in less serious cases, you can try to find some help with these remedies.

Let’s see specifically what they are.

1. Aloe gel

cervical aloe symptoms

The use of Aloe for the treatment of muscle and joint pain is very common especially in areas of Africa and South and Central America, where this plant grows spontaneously.

It is a succulent plant with fleshy leaves, inside which there is a semi-transparent gel. This gel has soothing, healing, calming and anti-inflammatory properties.

The freshly cut leaf can be applied behind the neck, or in the painful area, to provide immediate relief .

If you have an Aloe plant at home and suffer from neck pain, I recommend that you try it. I also remind you that the Aloe gel can also be used to calm itching and irritation due to the bites of insects, jellyfish, sunburn, or sunburn.

It is also an effective and safe natural remedy for the treatment of dermatitis, eczema, hives and diaper rashes in babies.

2. Hypericum oil

hypericum rheumatic pains

Hypericum, also known as “St. John’s wort”, is a plant with golden flowers, well known and handed down since ancient times for its symbolic and mystical value , as well as for its undisputed medicinal properties .

The flowers of this plant are collected, which are used both as a herb for herbal teas (in this case it is very useful as a mood modulator), and for the preparation of a particular blood-red oleolite! I’m talking about the hypericum oil .

This oleolite has been known for centuries for its soothing and healing properties, especially in the treatment of burns and sun rashes. Less well known is its use as a massage oil, to reduce painful manifestations localized in the muscles or joints .

In addition to treating neck pain, it can be safely used in case of sciatica, low back pain, joint pain, bruises and muscle tears.

It is simply a matter of applying a few drops of St. John’s Wort oil and massaging for a few minutes, waiting for the remedy to take its course. It generally works fairly quickly, providing quick relief and reducing tension and pain.

Contraindications

Hypericum oil has a contraindication that is good to know.

Its application makes the skin photosensitive , i.e. more sensitive to sunlight. This means that, at least for a few hours, that point where St. John’s wort oil has been applied, if you expose yourself to the sun (especially in age), it will be easy to suffer from sunburn.

Moral of the story, after applying it it is better not to expose yourself to the sun!

3. Tiger Cream

balm tiger aches

Now I would like to tell you about the famous ” Tiger Balm ” an ancient ointment with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties based on Camphor and essential oils , made for the first time in 1870 by the Chinese herbalist Aw Chu Kin and later perfected by his descendants.

Given its extreme effectiveness, the Tiger Balm recipe has been handed down from generation to generation throughout China, right up to the present day.

Unfortunately, today’s formulation is no longer as natural as it used to be. In fact, it contains over 40% of silicones and parabens . In short, if on the one hand it is true that it is very effective for muscle and joint pain, on the other I would say that it is not really a healthy touch for our skin.

We at Erbe di Mauro have therefore set ourselves the goal of creating a cream with properties similar to Tiger Balm, but in the face of an absolutely natural formulation, totally free of petroleum derivatives, or other substances potentially harmful to the skin.

But we didn’t stop there, we added Aloe Vera gel to the original recipe, an igredient that believe me, makes the difference. In fact, in addition to having anti-inflammatory properties itself, the Aloe gel improves the penetration into the skin of the rest of the ingredients, making our recipe superior to that of the original tiger balm.

Modesties aside, I invite you to try it, it is really very effective. The cream in question is called ” ALOE VERA TIGER CREAM “.

You will find it very useful for soothing your neck pain, but also other inflammatory ailments, such as back pain, sciatica, bruises, muscle aches, tendonitis and more.

4. Klamath

infiammation klamath

And now we come to the last remedy for the cervical (and not only): the Klamath

Klamath is a close relative of Spirulina. It is a microalga that grows only and exclusively in Upper Klamath Lake, Oregon (USA), a freshwater lake located in the middle of a volcanic valley.

Technically it is not a real alga, but cyanobacterial organisms, so called because they are able to replicate chlorophyll photosynthesis in the same way as any other plant form.

Klamath, like Spirulina, is well known for its very high concentration of nutrients (proteins, vitamins, minerals, etc.).

Very interesting, but you are probably wondering what all this has to do with neck pain?

Well I haven’t told you about the most interesting part yet! Klamath contains active ingredients whose anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties have been widely demonstrated .

I’m talking about phycocyanins , the blue-green pigments present in blue-green microalgae. These pigments are powerful physiological modulators of inflammation , and in particular the Klamath AFA-phycocyanins, have been found to be the most powerful of the known phycocyanins.

The anti-inflammatory properties of AFA-phycocyanins have been confirmed by in vivo studies, both in animals and in humans.

At the University of Ferrara [ 1 ], a study was conducted to test the ability of a Klamath algae extract to inhibit inflammation induced in guinea pigs, generated by the injection of capsaicin (the active ingredient of chilli) directly in the mucous membranes, in one case of the stomach, in the other of the urinary tract.

In both cases, the simultaneous intake of Klamath extracts inhibited inflammation by 90% to 100%!

Two preliminary human studies were also conducted.

  • In the first case, conducted on ten people with psoriasis , who had not responded to any other pharmacological or natural treatment, as many as 9 of the 10 patients reported clear improvements , in some even resolutive , by taking 3 tablets a day of the Klamath-based product. .
  • in the second, 20 women suffering from fibromyalgia , with widespread pain, asthenia, and stiffness were treated with Klamath extracts for a period of 60 days: at the end of the study, despite the low dosage and the short duration, there was a significant reduction of pain , and stiffness and asthenia was overcome in 2/3 of cases.

My personal experience with Klamath

I would now like to leave the floor to Massimo, one of our staff members. It is to him that we owe the great discovery of this precious gift of nature. In fact, I was totally unaware of it.

My name is Massimo and I have been part of Mauro’s staff for 10 years, we practically started this adventure together with Aloe and other herbs.

My personal search for a truly effective pain reliever remedy began in October 2019, just before the advent of COVID-19. My mother, following a bad fall and a fractured knee patella, had recently undergone surgery.

After rehabilitation, she continued to experience severe pain not only in her knee but also in both legs. She had great difficulty moving her legs, especially in the morning when she woke up. She couldn’t get out of bed and taking the stairs was like climbing Everest for her, a real feat!

After several analyzes he was diagnosed with a circulation problem which was followed by the prescription of some drugs, both cortisone, and to thin the blood and consequently improve circulation.

At the beginning the drugs immediately brought obvious benefits, but already after a few weeks, the effects began to wane, so much so that she was forced to double the dosages.

Considering my work, I tried to help her with the remedies I already knew. The Tiger Cream helped her to temporarily relieve pain and the Aloe helped her with intestinal regularity and detoxify from cortisone.

Of course I could not accept that she continued to take all those drugs, so I immediately started looking for something natural, which would help her not to heal, but at least to get better.

And so it was that I came across an interesting article about the Klamath seaweed. They weren’t blog articles, but scientific publications by Dr. Stefano Scoglio, who spoke precisely of the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacities of this microalgae.

Considering the profile of Dr. Scoglio, on the list among the Nobel Prizes for Medicine in 2018, I decided to give it a try and ordered Klamath on the internet.

By mutual agreement, two days after starting Klamath, since my mother was already feeling better, we decided to completely stop taking the drugs. Despite everything, there were no worsening, on the contrary, gradually, day by day, she felt better.

After the first week he was able to move naturally, to get out of bed without difficulty and the pain had practically disappeared.

After two weeks of taking, there was no trace of the ailments and he felt fine.

After three weeks, she tried to stop taking Klamath, after only one day, the problems returned to make themselves felt again, so much so that she immediately “forced” her to resume cortisone.

From that day on, he never stopped taking Klamath: one teaspoon a day diluted in water and taken on an empty stomach .

Today my mother is feeling well and is not taking any kind of medication.
